Virginia Tech Memorial Panel 2A Northern Illinois University received an incredible amount of support from Virginia Tech during our time of grief after the February 14, 2008 shooting. Messages of support were received by the VT offices to our matching NIU offices. Six double sided A-frame panels were placed in VT's Commons for their students to write messages of support to the NIU students. The panels were delivered to NIU in June of 2008, after the semester had already ended. To make these panels available to the students, they were displayed during the events of the first year anniversary of the tragedy.
