I never really celebrated Valentine's Day since the parties in grade school. But on Valentine's Day 2008, my life changed forever. I was in Cole Hall at the time of the tragedy..and since then my life has never been the same. I was seated in the front, near close range of the shooter. I was able to hide under my desk most of the time, and as I was making my escape I was shot twice. Thankfully, my injuries were minor..but I'll never forget the pain that went through my body. I'll never be able to get that image out of my head, nor the sounds or smells I encountered that day. I was in the hopspital overnight with my family..all the phonecalls coming on their cellphones with support. My cellphone was in Cole Hall with the rest of my belongings..Also, to make matters even more sad..I was in the seated in the same row as Gayle Dubowski, one of my classmates who was lost in the shooting. I never got to meet her, just exchanged notes for class a few times. She wasn't able to make it out, and it was devistating to find out afterwards. Now we approched the three year marker..and the bond I have with my classmates is stronger than ever. This is something we all went through together, and none of our lives will ever be the same. Forward, Together Forward.
