I work at Founders Memorial Library. My office faces Cole Hall. I have a strange work schedule so I had just left the building, probably minutes before the campus lock down. If I had been in my office I would have seen the students streaming out of Cole Hall. Instead, on my walk home I was passed by countless police and emergency vehicles rushing toward campus. I wondered what was going on. After I had been home a short while I heard helicopters. A little later the sound grew almost deafening and I turned on the television. Reports were very sketchy. A second gunman, shots fired in the library... I tried to call co-workers to see what was happenig but could not reach anyone. It was several hours before a truer report surfaced. The hard part was not knowing what was going on. The harder part was finding out...
